What it is
Wheel balancing
No wheel is perfectly balanced: the tyre and the rim always have spots heavier than others. When balancing, we measure the wheel on an electronic balancer and add small weights in the right places.
An unbalanced wheel makes the steering wheel shake, usually above 80 km/h, wears tyres and suspension faster, and tires the driver.
How it is done
The process
- We remove the old weights and clean the rim
- We measure the wheel on the balancer
- We fit weights (stick-on on alloy wheels, so they are not scratched)
- We measure again until the wheel is balanced
Frequently asked questions
When is balancing needed?
At every tyre change, after a wheel repair or coating, when the steering wheel shakes, and ideally every 10,000 km or so.
How long does it take?
About 30 minutes for all 4 wheels.
Do you charge for balancing when I buy new tyres?
No. With new tyres, fitting, balancing and valves are always included in the price.
